In North Carolina a handful of companies own or control the vast majority of the billboard signs on all the highways across the state, there
are a few independently owned & operated billboards, but they are relatively scarce for your purposes. These companies collectively cover the state, and each company generally has a larger
"footprint" within a specific geographic area of the state. This means that you may find for your local region of the state only one or two companies can
effectively supply billboards (in good locations) to be cost effective.
