National All Counties - Open Forum - Post issues here that are of "National" interest or scope

We have segmented the state into 14 "regions" in order to associate groupings of counties that would be likely to have similar political issues in common.  We considered using many existing political breakdowns (congressional districts, state house districts, etc.), but frankly those district maps made little common sense.  Finally, we found that the NCDOT had broken the state into districts for their purposes that "almost fit", (go figure - the state Transportation Dept realized that similar geographic areas had common needs for transportation)!!  So, we simply used their map with some modifications that appeared to make sense (for instance: we included Orange county in the "Triangle" instead of the "Triad").  We don't claim that this mapping is perfect, but it's a reasonable place to start!  If you have any suggestions for changes we would love to hear them !   The nomenclature of the regions was our own invention (with the obvious adoption of several existing regional names), so don't go looking in a 5th grade NC social studies text to see if these are the correct geographic area names...they are not!
